About Wine Festival

From August 10th to 15th, 2026, the village of Vignanello, nestled in the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia area, celebrates the 55th edition of the Wine Festival. Six days of tastings featuring local wineries, flag-wavers, street performers, traditional games, a kids' area, and nightly concerts and DJ sets, all set within the historic center and under the shadow of Castello Ruspoli. One of the longest-running events in Tuscia, relaunched in 2026 by a new group of local youth volunteers.

A tradition spanning 55 editions

The Vignanello Wine Festival is one of the longest-running events in the Tuscia region: in 2026, it reaches its 55th edition, a testament to a tradition that dates back to the early 1970s. Every August, this village in the Monti Cimini mountains transforms into a riot of color and fragrance, with wineries opening their doors to the public, traditional farming parades, and evenings of music under the stars. Here, wine is much more than a product: it is the symbol of the agricultural history of a town that has thrived on viticulture for centuries.

The 2026 relaunch: a new generation

The 2026 edition marks a major turning point. Following a period of uncertainty regarding the event's future after the previous committee concluded its tenure, a group of young people from Vignanello decided to take up the mantle, creating a new association. Thanks to this generational handover, the festival restarts with fresh energy while maintaining the popular spirit that made it famous. The event is held under the patronage of the Lazio Region, the Province of Viterbo, the Rieti-Viterbo Chamber of Commerce, and the Municipality of Vignanello.

Local wineries and wines

The heart of the festival lies in the tastings: three local wineries offer a total of 19 labels, including whites, reds, passito, and sparkling wines. Viticoltori Colli Cimini presents nine wines, Tenute Olivieri eight, and Casa Mecocci two. Throughout the week, dedicated presentations are scheduled, such as those for the Greco and the Principe Alessandro sparkling wine, showcasing local winemaking traditions. To accompany the glasses, thirteen dining spots, including kiosks, street food stalls, and bars, offer typical dishes from the Tuscia cuisine.

Six days of festivities, shows, and music

The program is designed for all ages: it kicks off on August 10th with a traditional farming parade from Castello Ruspoli and continues every evening with shows in Piazza Spettacoli and DJ sets in Piazza della Botte. Highly anticipated highlights include performances by the Narni flag-wavers, majorettes, the Città di Casperia band, street artists, live painting, traditional games—sack races, tug-of-war, apple bobbing—and the grand finale on Ferragosto. There is also a market in the streets of Molesino and a children's area active every day.

Vignanello, a wine village in Tuscia

Located in the Monti Cimini, in the province of Viterbo, Vignanello is a village worth visiting even beyond the festival. During the event, guided tours are organized at Castello Ruspoli, famous for its Italian-style gardens, and the Arco del Molesino; by reservation, you can also explore the connutti, the evocative underground cellars carved into the tuff that tell the story of the town's winemaking vocation. A perfect opportunity to discover one of the most authentic corners of the Lazio region.

Wine Festival — edition 2026

The 55th edition of the Vignanello Wine Festival brings the Tuscia village to life from August 10th to 15th, 2026: six days featuring 19 wines for tasting from three local wineries, an inaugural farming parade, Narni flag-wavers, traditional games, a kids' area, concerts in Piazza Spettacoli, and DJ sets in Piazza della Botte every evening, leading up to the grand Ferragosto finale.

The 2026 edition is one of rebirth: after a period of uncertainty, a new group of young volunteers from Vignanello has taken over the organization, bringing one of the most beloved festivals in the province of Viterbo back to the square. The format remains the classic one: from the afternoon, tastings with Viticoltori Colli Cimini, Tenute Olivieri, and Casa Mecocci, the market in the streets of Molesino, and the kids' area; in the evening, food stands and, from 10:00 PM, shows and music in two squares. Highlights include the inaugural farming parade from Castello Ruspoli, performances by the Narni flag-wavers, majorettes and the Città di Casperia band, traditional games on August 14th, and the Ferragosto party with Italian music and DJ sets. All events are free, with a free shuttle from parking areas every 20 minutes.
