About Veneto Carnival

In Casale di Scodosia, in the Bassa Padovana region, the Veneto Carnival is a tradition that has lasted for almost eighty years. Spectacular parades of allegorical floats animate the large Piazza Matteotti, accompanied by majorettes, musical bands, flag-wavers, street artists, food stalls, and evenings with DJ sets. With an average of around 15,000 visitors per edition, it is one of the most followed carnivals in the province of Padua.

A historic carnival

The Veneto Carnival in Casale di Scodosia, in the province of Padua, is one of the most beloved historical carnivals in the region. For almost eighty years, the large Piazza Giacomo Matteotti has hosted its spectacular masked parades, attracting an average of about 15,000 visitors per edition.

Floats, masks, and shows

The protagonists are the large allegorical floats, accompanied by majorettes, musical bands, flag-wavers, and street artists. The festival also features competitions (decorated shop windows and balconies, graphic-pictorial, literary, and masks), evenings with DJ sets, stalls, and food stands, in a joyful atmosphere that involves both adults and children.

The Island of Taste

Among the offerings of the most recent edition, the return of the covered and heated Island of Taste in Piazza Matteotti stands out, with the 'Carneval gnocolar' festival dedicated to gnocchi, both sweet and savory. Organized by the Carnevale del Veneto Committee, it is an event that makes Casale di Scodosia one of the carnival capitals of the Bassa Padovana region.

Veneto Carnival — edition 2026

The 78th edition of the Veneto Carnival in Casale di Scodosia takes place on Sunday, February 8 and 15, and Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in Piazza Giacomo Matteotti. Masked parades with allegorical floats, majorettes, flag-wavers, and street artists, a pyromusical show, Children's Carnival, and the new covered 'Carneval gnocolar' Island of Taste.

The 2026 edition, the 78th, confirms Casale di Scodosia as one of the centers of the Paduan carnival. The event unfolds over three days in Piazza Matteotti, with grand masked parades of allegorical floats, a pyromusical show, and a day dedicated to children. A novelty of this edition is the return of the covered and heated Island of Taste, with the first 'Carneval gnocolar' festival featuring sweet and savory gnocchi. Paid admission (€5 full price, €3 reduced price, free under 12s).
