Edition 2025 — Vastedda Fritta Festival

On August 14, 2025, Gratteri celebrated the 45th edition of the Vastedda Fritta Festival. In the historic center of the Madonie village, tastings of the typical fried bread dough disc were held, served sweet with sugar or savory with anchovies. The day featured food stands, street theater, circus artists, and Sicilian folk music, with performances that enlivened Piazza San Francesco and Corso Umberto I until late in the evening.

The 45th edition

The 2025 edition of the Vastedda Fritta Festival, the forty-fifth, took place on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in the historic center of Gratteri, in the province of Palermo. The absolute star was the vastedda fritta, a small disc of hand-kneaded bread dough, fried in boiling oil and served hot in sweet (with sugar) and savory (with salt and anchovies) versions.

Among the day's events, tastings were concentrated in Piazza San Francesco, animated by street theater, acrobatics, and juggling by the Joculares company and by the Sicilian folk music of the group Kistisemu. In the evening, along Corso Umberto I, the band Blue Sound2 offered a repertoire ranging from Italian classics to international hits. There was no shortage of stands featuring typical products and crafts from the Madonie territory.
