The great spring festival of the hamlet of Valcasoni in Eraclea
The Valcasoni Festival, officially the Jesus the Good Shepherd Celebrations, is one of the most deeply rooted events in the hamlet of Valcasoni, in the Municipality of Eraclea (province of Venice). It takes place over three consecutive weekends between late March and April, attracting families and food lovers from all over the Venetian coast.
The festival is famous for its genuine cuisine: gnocchi and tagliatelle with duck ragu, grilled meats, steaks, sausages, polenta, mushrooms, and dishes like tripe. A distinguishing detail is the care in service, with dishes served on ceramic plates and metal cutlery, a sign of attention to quality. The second weekend hosts a dedicated Fish Festival, while the third features a spit-roast evening by reservation.
Each weekend has its soundtrack: live concerts and bands on the first weekend, DJs and an acoustic trio on the second, and 70s-90s vintage music on the third. Behind the festival is a community of volunteers and donors who proudly call themselves 'Sagronauti' (Festival Sailors), testifying to the participatory spirit that animates Valcasoni.
