Chamber music concerts in the halls of the Ducal Palace of Urbino
The Urbino Chamber Music Festival is a concert season that takes place in the halls of the Ducal Palace of Urbino, a Renaissance masterpiece that houses the National Gallery of the Marche. Born to enhance the combination of music and art venues, the festival offers refined programs focused on the chamber repertoire from the 18th century onwards, performed by internationally renowned soloists and principal players from major European theaters, from Amsterdam to Basel to London.
Listening to a string quartet or a piano trio in the Throne Room or the Conference Room of the Palace, surrounded by the masterpieces of the National Gallery of the Marche, is the idea that drives the entire project: music dialogues with space, and space amplifies the emotion of listening. The artistic direction is entrusted to violinist Cecilia Cartoceti, who designs each season as a journey through the great composers, from Telemann and Corelli to Shostakovich, Schumann, and Piazzolla.
The festival is divided into several concerts spread between autumn and spring, with events designed to accompany visitors throughout Urbino's cultural year. The concerts are held in the afternoon, usually at 4:30 PM, to combine a museum visit with live listening: the entrance ticket to the Gallery, in fact, also grants access to the concerts.
Part of the UNESCO World Heritage city, the Urbino Chamber Music Festival enriches the cultural offerings of a municipality that has always been a crossroads of art, music, and education in the Marche region. The setting of the Ducal Palace, commissioned by Federico da Montefeltro, makes every concert a unique experience, where architectural and musical heritage merge.
The seventh edition of the Urbino Chamber Music Festival, organized by the National Gallery of the Marche under the artistic direction of Cecilia Cartoceti, featured five concerts spread between autumn 2025 and spring 2026, all held in the halls of the Ducal Palace of Urbino. The program explored the great chamber repertoire, from wind instruments to strings and piano, with internationally renowned soloists. The season concluded on May 24, 2026, with a refined program for violin and double bass.
Access to the concerts was included in the ticket for the National Gallery of the Marche, combining a museum visit with live listening in the Palace's halls.
