About Musica da Camera Urbino

The Urbino Chamber Music Festival brings great masterpieces of the chamber repertoire into the Renaissance halls of the Ducal Palace, home to the National Gallery of the Marche. A season that intertwines music and art, with internationally renowned soloists and principal players from major European theaters, in a series of concerts between autumn and spring. Art amidst art, in the heart of the ducal city of Urbino, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino.

A festival in the heart of the Ducal Palace

The Urbino Chamber Music Festival is a concert season that takes place in the halls of the Ducal Palace of Urbino, a Renaissance masterpiece that houses the National Gallery of the Marche. Born to enhance the combination of music and art venues, the festival offers refined programs focused on the chamber repertoire from the 18th century onwards, performed by internationally renowned soloists and principal players from major European theaters, from Amsterdam to Basel to London.

Art amidst art

Listening to a string quartet or a piano trio in the Throne Room or the Conference Room of the Palace, surrounded by the masterpieces of the National Gallery of the Marche, is the idea that drives the entire project: music dialogues with space, and space amplifies the emotion of listening. The artistic direction is entrusted to violinist Cecilia Cartoceti, who designs each season as a journey through the great composers, from Telemann and Corelli to Shostakovich, Schumann, and Piazzolla.

A season between autumn and spring

The festival is divided into several concerts spread between autumn and spring, with events designed to accompany visitors throughout Urbino's cultural year. The concerts are held in the afternoon, usually at 4:30 PM, to combine a museum visit with live listening: the entrance ticket to the Gallery, in fact, also grants access to the concerts.

Urbino, city of music and art

Part of the UNESCO World Heritage city, the Urbino Chamber Music Festival enriches the cultural offerings of a municipality that has always been a crossroads of art, music, and education in the Marche region. The setting of the Ducal Palace, commissioned by Federico da Montefeltro, makes every concert a unique experience, where architectural and musical heritage merge.

  • Venue: Palazzo Ducale - Galleria Nazionale delle Marche, Piazza Duca Federico, Urbino (PU)
  • Organization: Galleria Nazionale delle Marche
  • Artistic Direction: Cecilia Cartoceti
  • Repertoire: chamber music from the 18th century to contemporary
