"Under the Farnese Sky": A storytelling walk in the village of Caprarola

In the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia region, the Municipality of Caprarola (province of Viterbo, Lazio) invites you on July 25 and 26, 2026, for "Under the Farnese Sky," a storytelling walk with tastings of local products that winds through the streets and alleys of the historic village. This is not just a simple tour, but a narrated journey that gives voice to the heritage of history, art, and traditions preserved by one of the most famous towns in the Cimini Mountains.

A journey through history, memory, and flavors

The initiative aims to rediscover the territory through the stories of its communities: step by step, participants cross the most significant corners of Caprarola as the village's stories come to life, in a blend of collective memory and local identity. Accompanying the route is a tasting of local products from the Tuscia region, an opportunity to savor the authentic flavors of a fertile and generous land. The itinerant and convivial format creates moments of encounter between residents and visitors under the summer sky of this Farnese town.

The project by the Comunità Montana dei Cimini

"Under the Farnese Sky" is part of a broader project promoted by the Comunità Montana dei Cimini and funded by the Lazio Region, carried out in collaboration with the cultural association "Il Fascino del Passato" of Viterbo, which is active in the protection and dissemination of historical and cultural heritage. Throughout the summer, these storytelling walks involve various municipalities in the Cimini district—including Soriano nel Cimino, Vetralla, Ronciglione, Vallerano, and Capranica—each with its own title and narrative thread, creating a mosaic of stories that compose the most authentic identity of the Tuscia region.

Caprarola and the Farnese legacy

Caprarola is inextricably linked to the Farnese family: here stands the monumental Palazzo Farnese, a 16th-century masterpiece by Vignola with its famous helical royal staircase and Italian-style gardens, which dominates the scenic main street of the village. It is in this context, rich in Renaissance charm, that the walk finds its ideal setting, offering a vivid and participatory way to interpret a place steeped in great history.

Caprarola's Summer 2026

The event is part of the rich Summer 2026 program in Caprarola, scheduled from July 23 to September 1, which combines music, theater, festivals, cultural routes, and food and wine initiatives in the most evocative spaces of the town: from the Terrazza del Teatro Don Paolo Stefani to the Parco delle Scuderie of Palazzo Farnese, from the village streets to the events of the Hazelnut Festival. On the same dates, the calendar also features the Francigena Festival and the EcoSound Fest, for a weekend of full cultural vitality.

An experience to be lived slowly

Suitable for the curious, local history enthusiasts, families, and travelers in search of authentic, local tourism, "Under the Farnese Sky" invites you to slow your pace and let yourself be guided by the stories. A different and engaging way to get to know Caprarola and the Tuscia region, amidst heritage, popular traditions, and taste. Booking is mandatory: spots are limited to ensure the quality of the experience.
