Two days of Visconti Middle Ages at Morimondo Abbey
Trecentesca is a major international medieval historical re-enactment event held at the Abbey of Morimondo (Province of Milan), a splendid Cistercian complex in the heart of one of Italy's most beautiful villages. Set in the Visconti era, the re-enactment transports visitors back to the 14th century with encampments, markets, shows, and battles involving over four hundred participants from all over Europe.
The most anticipated moment is the re-enactment of the Battle of Casorate of 1356, which saw the Milanese army of Lodrisio Visconti clash with the imperial troops of Count Konrad von Landau. The reconstruction, meticulously detailed historically, revives one of the military episodes that marked the power struggles in 14th-century Lombardy, restoring the atmosphere and drama of those years.
Alongside the battles, Trecentesca offers a rich program of educational workshops – herbalism, miniature painting, fresco, medieval calligraphy – exhibitions of musical instruments, falconry and artillery displays, and medieval music concerts. The event, organized by the Fondazione Abbatia Sancte Marie de Morimondo, thus combines re-enactment, historical education, and entertainment, in one of the most fascinating monumental settings of the Ticino Park, in the Municipality of Morimondo.
The 2026 edition takes place on May 16 and 17 at Morimondo Abbey, set in the Visconti era. Over four hundred participants from all over Europe bring encampments, shows, workshops, and battles to life, culminating in the re-enactment of the Battle of Casorate (1356). Preceded by a medieval dinner on May 9.
