About Toti Dal Monte Competition
A springboard for young opera voices
The Toti Dal Monte International Competition for Opera Singers, named after the famous soprano born in Mogliano Veneto, has been a reference point for opera singing in Treviso for decades. Organized by the Teatro Stabile del Veneto, it brings together under-35 singers from all over the world each year, selected through an international call for entries that attracts over a hundred candidates.
Not just a prize, but a debut
The unique feature of the Toti Dal Monte is that it is the first opera competition in Italy to offer winners the chance to debut as protagonists of an opera, staged with a different title each edition. The winning opera is not just theoretical: it is staged in the following season at the Mario Del Monaco Municipal Theatre in Treviso and in other theatres in the Veneto region, such as the Verdi Theatre in Padua and the Sociale Theatre in Rovigo.
How it works
The competition is divided into a preliminary round and a semi-final behind closed doors, followed by the public final at the Mario Del Monaco Theatre, accompanied by a live orchestra. It is on this evening that the roles for the opera in competition, chosen each year from the masterpieces of the repertoire, are awarded.
Toti Dal Monte Competition — edition 2026
For the 52nd edition, the Toti Dal Monte Competition offered the roles of Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata, with libretto by Francesco Maria Piave: the first time this masterpiece has been part of the competition mechanism as a title linked to the final prize. 105 candidates aged between 21 and 35, from 18 countries, competed. The roles up for competition were Violetta Valéry, Alfredo Germont, Giorgio Germont, Annina, Doctor Grenvil, Flora Bervoix, Gaston, Douphol, and the Marquis d'Obigny. The winning opera will be staged in the 2026/2027 season at the Mario Del Monaco Theatre in Treviso, the Verdi Theatre in Padua, and the Sociale Theatre in Rovigo.

How to get there
The Mario Del Monaco Municipal Theatre is located in Corso del Popolo, in the center of Treviso, a short distance from the Treviso Centrale railway station. By car, it can be reached from the A27 and A4 motorways.
