About TONO Festival
When Music and Art Intertwine
TONO Festival is the event of the Polytechnic of the Arts of Bergamo, a unique higher education model in Italy that brings together the Gaetano Donizetti Conservatory of Music and the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts. The festival was created to showcase the research of students and faculty, intertwining music, visual arts, and new languages in constant dialogue with the city of Bergamo.
INTERSCAPE: Landscape as Research
The 3rd edition, titled INTERSCAPE, focuses on landscape as a space for shared research between sound, visual arts, and the city. The festival is also the public presentation of the INPA – International Network of the Polytechnics of the Arts project, funded by the PNRR and coordinated by Bergamo as the lead of a European network involving five Italian cities and five European cities.
A Widespread Program
Events are spread across symbolic locations in the city: the Donizetti Theatre, Spazio Daste, the GAMeC, the Palazzo della Libertà, and the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts. Symphonic and chamber concerts, electronic live sets, film screenings, exhibitions, and conferences make up an interdisciplinary program that spans genres and languages.
Free Admission
One of TONO's most appreciated features is its openness to the city: all events, including exhibitions, concerts, and conferences, are free (with booking required for concerts). The festival thus represents a valuable opportunity for the people of Bergamo to discover the creative vitality of its educational institutions, fostering the cross-pollination of different disciplines.
TONO Festival — edition 2026
The 3rd edition of TONO Festival, an event by the Polytechnic of the Arts of Bergamo, runs from February 3 to 15, 2026, under the title INTERSCAPE. The festival is the public presentation of the European project INPA, coordinated by Bergamo.
All events are free (with booking required for concerts) and are held at the Donizetti Theatre, Spazio Daste, GAMeC, Palazzo della Libertà, and the Carrara Academy of Fine Arts.

Main Events
- February 3 — Inaugural symphonic concert at the Donizetti Theatre: the Conservatory Orchestra conducted by Gianna Fratta, program dedicated to Mendelssohn and Beethoven's "Pastoral"
- February 5 — Sound Undesign (5th edition) at Spazio Daste: electronic live sets by students of Sound Design and Post-Internet Music
- February 10 — Screening of the film "Pellizza – Pittore da Volpedo" by Francesco Fei (Schermo Bianco, Daste)
- February 12 — Opening of the INTERSCAPE exhibition (curated by Bianca Trevisan and Daniele Maffeis), spanning Spazio Zero of GAMeC, Palazzo della Libertà, and Carrara Academy
- February 15 — Chamber Music Concert at the Academy and Pop/Rock concert at Daste Arena, with the award ceremony for Mauro Pagani

Getting Here
Events take place in various venues in the center of Bergamo: Donizetti Theatre, GAMeC, Carrara Academy (Città Alta and museum district) and Spazio Daste (Via Daste e Spalenga 13). All are reachable on foot or by public transport.
Admission and Booking
All events are free. Booking is required for concerts, available on the official website interscape.it.
Tip
For the opening concert at the Donizetti Theatre and the closing evening at Daste Arena, it is advisable to book in advance: seats are limited.
