The grand finale of the Race of the Two Seas on the Adriatic promenade
The Tirreno-Adriatico, nicknamed the Race of the Two Seas, is one of the most prestigious stage races in international cycling, organized by RCS Sport. Every year it connects the Tyrrhenian side to the Adriatic side of the peninsula, starting from Lido di Camaiore in Tuscany and concluding in San Benedetto del Tronto, in the Province of Ascoli Piceno, in the Marche region. The town on the Riviera delle Palme has always been linked to this race: with the exception of the first edition in 1966, which ended in Pescara, San Benedetto has almost always hosted the final finish line of the Race of the Two Seas.
The 2026 edition marked the 60th final arrival of the race in San Benedetto del Tronto and the 72nd time the city has hosted a stage: numbers that tell of a deep relationship between the Piceno territory and great cycling. The final leg winds along the characteristic city circuit on the promenade, to be repeated several times, where sprinters battle for the stage victory before the awards ceremony in Piazza Giorgini.
Around the arrival day, the Municipality of San Benedetto del Tronto and local associations organize a rich program of initiatives dedicated to cycling culture, with the Palazzina Azzurra serving as the headquarters for cultural events. Among the recurring activities:
The arrival of the Tirreno-Adriatico is an exceptional showcase for San Benedetto del Tronto, a pearl of the Riviera delle Palme and one of the most popular seaside resorts in the Marche. The palm-lined promenade, the fishing port, and the Piceno hospitality provide the backdrop for a celebration of sport that attracts enthusiasts, fans, and media from all over the world, confirming the link between cycling tradition and the identity of the Marche region.
The 2026 edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico, the 61st in its history, concluded on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in San Benedetto del Tronto with the seventh and final stage, the Civitanova Marche - San Benedetto del Tronto. The final leg brought the race onto the traditional city circuit along the promenade, with the finish in the afternoon and awards ceremony in Piazza Giorgini.
