A 14th Century to Experience Between San Vito and Guadamello
The Contest of the Towers is a historical-cultural re-enactment of the 14th century that aims to promote the villages of San Vito and Guadamello, two hamlets of the municipality of Narni, in the province of Terni. The event revives the year 1332, when the Scotti family elevated San Vito to the rank of court, freeing it from the obligation of the candle offering to San Giovenale, patron saint of Narni.
The Challenge of the Towers
The highlight is an engaging archery competition, with which the two castles compete for a rich plot of land located exactly between the territories of the Towers. Around the challenge, the villages dress up in medieval style with costume parades, encampments, shows, craft markets, and taverns where you can taste traditional Umbrian dishes.

More than a show, the Contest of the Towers is a way to rediscover an episode of local history and the ancient bond between Narni and its country castles. An event that every year attracts curious people and historical re-enactment enthusiasts to the heart of the Valnerina.
Contest of the Towers — edition 2026
The 2026 edition (the ninth) of the Contest of the Towers is held from Thursday, June 18 to Sunday, June 21 in the villages of San Vito and Guadamello, hamlets of Narni. The re-enactment brings back to life 1332, the year in which the Scotti family elevated San Vito to the rank of court.
The program alternates historical parades, encampments, street performances, craft markets, taverns with medieval cuisine, and the traditional archery competition with which the two castles compete for the plot of land located between the Towers.

The detailed day-by-day program for the 9th edition (June 18-21, 2026) will be published by the organization on the official channels in the weeks preceding the event. The established structure includes:
- Opening of the villages and medieval encampments
- 14th-century costume historical parades between San Vito and Guadamello

- Opening of taverns with traditional Umbrian cuisine
- Archery competition between the two castles for the conquest of the plot of land
