The Carnival That Colors the Center of Falconara
La Città di Carnevale is the event with which the Municipality of Falconara Marittima, on the Adriatic coast of the province of Ancona, celebrates Carnival. The heart of the festival is Piazza Mazzini, in the city center, which for an entire afternoon transforms into a colorful open-air agora: a big street party made of confetti, masks, dancing, and music, designed to involve children, teenagers, and families.
Masks, Parade, and Awards
The heart of the event is the parade of masks, open to single masks, costumed groups, families, and school groups. A jury awards prizes for the most beautiful and original costumes, assigning accolades for the most beautiful mask, the best costumed group, and the best school group. The prizes, offered by local businesses, range from travel vouchers to restaurant vouchers at Falconara's main establishments, to shopping vouchers: a way to link the festival to the city's commercial and associative fabric.
Entertainment and Live Music
The program alternates entertainment, shows, and live music on the stage set up in the square. In recent editions, the event has hosted musical entertainment groups and guests highly followed by younger audiences, capable of drawing thousands of people to the square amidst confetti and streamers.
A City Tradition
With over ten editions behind it, La Città di Carnevale has become one of the most anticipated events in Falconara Marittima's calendar. Organized by the municipal administration, it is a free and open-to-all event that, along with initiatives in the hamlets like the Carnival in the square in Castelferretti, enlivens the entire municipal area during Carnival, as part of the cultural and tourist offerings of the Marche region.
The City of Carnival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of La Città di Carnevale was held on Saturday, February 21, in Piazza Mazzini in Falconara Marittima, from 3:00 PM (with a rain date scheduled for Sunday, February 22). Organized by the Municipality of Falconara Marittima, the festival transformed the center into a colorful agora with music, entertainment, and the traditional parade of masks open to groups, families, and schools.
Opening the afternoon, from 3:00 PM, was the group InCanto with the project Disney Medley and the voices of Samuele, Fabiana, and Alice, performing classics like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Frozen. At 4:00 PM, The Breakfast Club (Fabio Ferrucci, Cristiano Borsi, and Viola Silvi), accompanied by The Breakfast Crew, took the stage to the cheers of a packed Piazza Mazzini. The day concluded with awards for the most beautiful and original masks.

- 3:00 PM — Festival opening and parade of masks (single masks, groups, families, and schools); musical entertainment by the group InCanto with the Disney Medley project (voices of Samuele, Fabiana, and Alice): songs from Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Frozen.
- 4:00 PM — On stage: The Breakfast Club (Fabio Ferrucci, Cristiano Borsi, Viola Silvi) with The Breakfast Crew.
- In the afternoon — Awards for the most beautiful mask, best costumed group, and best school group.

How to get there
Falconara Marittima is well-connected: the train station is on the Bologna-Lecce Adriatic line and is close to the center. By car, it can be reached from the A14 highway (Ancona Nord exit). Marche Airport is located right in Falconara.
