Pioltello's carnival that brings the neighborhoods together in Seggiano
In Pioltello, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the Martesana area, Carnival has a specific name and location: La Piazza del Carnevale, in the Seggiano district. The unique aspect of this festival is that the masked parades start from the different city districts and all converge in the square of the Beata Vergine Assunta church, creating a great collective moment.
Once gathered in the square, the costumed participants will find a rich program of entertainment, especially designed for children: the magic sphere for taking souvenir photos, the "Enchanted Castle" inflatable slide, cotton candy, and the "Color the Masks" creative workshop. Stilt walkers and percussionists will liven up the afternoon, accompanying the festival with music and shows.
The delicious and traditional aspect is not forgotten, with chiacchiere distributed by the city parishes at their stands. To encourage family participation, the family with the most original costume is awarded a board game: a way to involve parents and children in a single shared celebration.
Promoted by the Pro Loco of Pioltello in collaboration with the city parishes and the Municipality, La Piazza del Carnevale is a free event that puts the community at the center. By bringing the neighborhoods together in one square, it embodies the spirit of a city that chooses to celebrate together, valuing the Seggiano district and its traditions.
The 2026 edition of La Piazza del Carnevale is confirmed for Saturday, February 21, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, in the square in front of the Beata Vergine Assunta church in Seggiano. The masked parades start from the various districts of Pioltello and converge in the square, where entertainment, workshops, and the distribution of chiacchiere are held. In case of bad weather, the festival moves to the gymnasium of the Iqbal Masih school.
