Pioltello's Christmas program, from the patronal feast to Epiphany
Christmas in the City is the Christmas program of the Municipality of Pioltello, a town in the hinterland east of Milan in the Metropolitan City of Milan. Not a single event, but a widespread calendar that accompanies the community from late November until Epiphany, with events touching the historic center and its hamlets (Limito, Seggiano).
The program is promoted by the municipal administration together with the Pro Loco Pioltello Bello and local associations, and combines institutional moments, popular celebrations, and solidarity initiatives. It is the way Pioltello builds the festive atmosphere, involving families, children, and the elderly.
The event kicks off with the lighting of the large Christmas tree and the inauguration of the Christmas lights, coinciding with the patronal feast of Sant'Andrea (November 30th). Among the events marking the period are the Dancing Fountains, a show of water, light, and music in Piazza dei Popoli; the Santa Lucia Fair in the historic center; Santa's Village in Limito; gospel concerts; a party for the elderly; and, to conclude, the Epiphany celebration with music in the square in Seggiano. All events are free.
The Christmas in the City program returns to Pioltello for the 2026-2027 period, from the patronal feast of Sant'Andrea (November 30th) to Epiphany on January 6th. The detailed calendar has not yet been published. The typical structure of the program includes the lighting of the tree and Christmas lights, the Dancing Fountains, the Santa Lucia Fair, Santa's Village, and Epiphany events.
The detailed calendar for the 2026-2027 edition will be announced by the Municipality of Pioltello and Pro Loco Pioltello Bello closer to the holidays. Based on recent editions, the program typically includes:
