Villa Tittoni celebrates 50 years of the beloved cartoon
The exhibition «Maya the Bee – 50 Years in Flight» celebrates in Desio (province of Monza and Brianza) the half-century of one of the most beloved characters by children. Hosted in the halls of Villa Tittoni, on via Lampugnani, the exhibition retraces the history of Maya the Bee from its literary origins — Waldemar Bonsels' 1912 novel — to the great television success that made it an international icon.
The exhibition path brings together precious and nostalgic materials: historical magazines and publications, the vinyl record of the famous theme song, comics and illustrations, entire DVD collections, vintage toys and video games, as well as the first editions of Bonsels' novel and various Italian editions illustrated by great artists. A journey that intertwines literature, animation, music, and pop culture.
Curated by the Franco Fossati Foundation and WOW Spazio Fumetto with DeAPlaneta Entertainment, in collaboration with the Municipality of Desio, the exhibition is designed to engage both adults and children. The inauguration is accompanied by displayed art figures and a theatrical moment dedicated to Maya the Bee. With free admission and open on weekends, the exhibition makes Villa Tittoni a reference point for comic and animation enthusiasts in Brianza.
