About 7 Hills of Filottrano

The 7 Hills of Filottrano is the mountain bike touring event that every spring brings hundreds of enthusiasts to cycle the hills of Filottrano, in the province of Ancona. Included in the Transubike circuit, the event offers two non-competitive routes through white roads, trails, and scenic stretches of the Marche region, with refreshment stops featuring local products, technical and medical assistance, and a convivial atmosphere that combines sport, nature, and local gastronomy.

A Ride Through the Marche Hills

The 7 Hills of Filottrano is a non-competitive mountain bike touring event held in Filottrano, in the heart of the province of Ancona, in the Marche region. The event invites enthusiasts of all levels to ride the hills surrounding the village, discovering a landscape of white roads, dirt trails, scenic ridges, and views of the Marche countryside. The meeting and starting point is the San Giobbe Sports Field, on Via Gemme, where parking and services for participants are located.

The Routes

The event offers two routes designed for different needs, so that both the fittest bikers and those looking for a more relaxed outing can participate:

  • Long Route: approximately 40 km with an elevation gain of 1,100 meters, suitable for those seeking a challenging ride.
  • Short Route: approximately 27 km with an elevation gain of 800 meters, ideal for touring cyclists and those approaching the day with a more relaxed spirit.

The routes alternate stretches on asphalt, white roads, and trails immersed in nature, touching the hills that give the event its name. Helmet use is mandatory, and the highway code must be respected, as part of the route runs on open roads.

Services and Hospitality

The event is much more than just a ride. Along the route, there are refreshment points with local products, while upon arrival, participants can count on technical and medical assistance, a sweep service, showers, awards, and a photo service. For those who do not own a mountain bike, e-bike rental is available by reservation, a solution that has helped broaden the range of participants, with a growing female presence. For accompanying persons who do not cycle, guided walks are often organized, allowing them to experience the day immersed in the landscape.

The Transubike Circuit

The 7 Hills of Filottrano is part of the Transubike circuit, a series of cycling events that cross the territories of Marche and Umbria, with a focus on historic trails, villages, and food and wine. Coordinated by Andrea Martelli, the circuit promotes a slow and conscious way of experiencing cycling, capable of enhancing the natural and cultural heritage of the Apennines. The event is supported by the Marche Region and sponsored by the Municipality of Filottrano.

Filottrano and its Hills

Filottrano is a municipality in the province of Ancona known for its tradition of clothing manufacturing and its position on a hill overlooking the Musone and Potenza valleys. The hills surrounding the town, rolling and covered with cultivated fields, represent an ideal terrain for mountain biking and cycle touring, and the event is now an anticipated fixture in the spring sports calendar of the Marche region.
