The evening that kicks off the summer season in Monteleone Sabino with a gourmet trail and live music
Territori Vivi is the initiative that marks the official start of the summer event season for the Pro Loco of Monteleone Sabino. The concept is simple and deeply rooted in the Sabina spirit: instead of setting up a single isolated stage, the event breathes life back into the village streets, turning the urban fabric into a shared meeting place for one night. The town of Monteleone Sabino, in the province of Rieti, lies in the heart of the Lazio Sabina, a landscape of rolling hills, olive groves, and small historic centers just over an hour from Rome.
The event unfolds along two main arteries of the urban core: Piazza XXIV Aprile and Via Castello, areas temporarily repurposed as exhibition and entertainment zones. This layout encourages visitors to stroll slowly through the village, with stalls distributed along the path, highlighting picturesque corners and views that are usually just passed by.
The heart of the evening is the Gourmet Trail: an itinerary dedicated to tasting local culinary specialties, designed to promote short supply chains and the traditional flavors of the Sabina territory. Visitors do not sit at a single table but move between stations, sampling local products along the way.
The evening is accompanied by the live performance of the Allegrini e Trebiani Band, whose show-orchestra repertoire sets the rhythm for the event. It is the kind of music that has always defined village festivals in the Sabina region: danceable, familiar, and designed to bring different generations together in the same square.
The village stands on the site of ancient Trebula Mutuesca, an important Sabina center that later became a Roman municipality. Those arriving early can visit the remains of the Roman amphitheater, the archaeological museum, and above all the Sanctuary of Santa Vittoria, one of the most significant religious complexes in the Sabina region, featuring a Romanesque church and ancient catacombs. This historical layering is an integral part of the identity that Territori Vivi aims to showcase: the historic center is not just a backdrop, but the very reason for the event.
Territori Vivi serves as the opening act for a longer season. In the following months, the town hosts other traditional events organized by the Pro Loco and the local community, including the Feast of the Madonna del Carmine on July 16th and the Fettuccine alla Trebulana Festival on the first weekend of August, featuring handmade pasta prepared according to a recipe passed down through generations. Visitors to Monteleone Sabino in late May will find the first of a series of events that animate the village until the end of summer.
It is an intimate event, without spectacular pretensions, and precisely for this reason, it is authentic: a Sabina village opening itself to visitors with its own products, music, and streets. For those coming from Rome or Rieti, it is the perfect opportunity for an open-air evening in a village where tradition is not reconstructed for tourism, but simply still practiced.
The event was held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM and concluding late in the evening. The historic center of Monteleone Sabino, in the province of Rieti, was traversed by a gourmet trail set up along Piazza XXIV Aprile and Via Castello, the two main streets temporarily repurposed as exhibition and entertainment areas.
The program combined the tasting of local culinary specialties, with the stated goal of promoting short supply chains and Sabina culinary traditions, with live music from the Allegrini e Trebiani Band, whose repertoire provided the soundtrack for the entire evening. The event was conceived by the Pro Loco as the inauguration of the summer season, which continues in Monteleone Sabino until August with the Fettuccine alla Trebulana Festival.
Logistical reference point: Via Lucio Mummio 11, 02033 Monteleone Sabino (RI).
Monteleone Sabino (RI) can be reached by car from the Via Salaria (SS4), exiting towards Osteria Nuova and continuing along the provincial roads of the Sabina: about an hour and a half from Rome and forty minutes from Rieti. There are no train stations in the municipality; the nearest ones are on the line to Rieti, with onward travel by car or local bus.
The event takes place along Piazza XXIV Aprile and Via Castello, in the historic center. We recommend parking in the areas just outside the town and continuing on foot, as the streets involved are closed to traffic during the event.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Monteleone Sabino. Updates on times and details are available on the Pro Loco's social media channels and the Monteleone Sabino municipal website.
