Portogruaro celebrates between river and vineyards
Nestled on the banks of the Lemene river, a few kilometers from the sea and on the border with Friuli, Portogruaro is one of the most fascinating cities in Eastern Venice, with its arcades, mills, and Gothic palaces overlooking the water. Every year, in May, its historic center hosts Terre dei Dogi in Festa, the major food and wine review that celebrates the culinary and oenological qualities of the Venetian province's territory.
A hundred stands and the wines of Lison-Pramaggiore
Along the streets and squares of the center, about one hundred stands are set up dedicated to local products, crafts, and Venetian masks. The absolute stars are the DOC and DOCG wines of Lison-Pramaggiore, one of the most representative denominations of Eastern Veneto, accompanied by local gastronomic specialties.
Culture, river, and tradition
The event is not just about food and wine: the program includes concerts, art exhibitions held in the city's palaces, book presentations, guided tours of the historic center and hydraulic systems, boat trips on the Lemene, and Nordic walking excursions through the Lison vineyards. The festival is coordinated by the Municipality of Portogruaro together with the Pro Loco, the Portogruaro Insieme association, the Museo Nazionale Concordiese, and the Consorzio di bonifica, in a union that tells the water and countryside identity of this corner of Veneto.
Terre dei Dogi in Festa — edition 2026
The 19th edition of Terre dei Dogi in Festa takes place on the weekend of May 15-17, 2026, in the historic center of Portogruaro. Three days of tastings featuring DOC and DOCG wines from Lison-Pramaggiore, typical products from Eastern Venice, art exhibitions, concerts, boat excursions on the Lemene river, and Nordic walking tours through the vineyards, organized by the Municipality with Pro Loco and local associations.

- 5:30 PM — Concert by the "XXV Aprile" Music High School Band
- 6:30 PM — Inauguration of the exhibition "Lo Stato dell'Arte.2" at Palazzo Municipale
- 7:00 PM — Opening of the food and wine stands with wines and typical products
Saturday, May 16
- 11:30 AM — Traditional opening of Porta San Giovanni with flag throwers
- 12:00 PM — Official ceremony and inaugural toast in Piazza della Repubblica
- 3:00 PM-7:00 PM — Boat excursions on the Lemene river
- 6:30 PM — Fashion show

How to get here
Portogruaro is served by the train station on the Venice-Trieste line and by the Portogruaro exit of the A4 motorway. The historic center is entirely pedestrianized during the event.
Admission
Access to the event is free. Tastings and some guided excursions on the Lemene are subject to a fee, with booking recommended.
