Great drama, comedy, and live music in the historic theater of Galatina
The Teatro Cavallino Bianco Theater Season is the most anticipated live performance event in Galatina, a town in the province of Lecce in the heart of Salento. Every year, from November to May, the historic theater on Via Giuseppe Grassi hosts a program that weaves together great drama, comedy, music, and reflection, bringing some of the most beloved figures of the Italian theatrical and television scene to Puglia.
The Cavallino Bianco first opened its doors to the public in 1949. After nearly twenty years of closure and a long restoration project supported by the Puglia Region, it returned to life on November 13, 2021. The renovation involved the main hall, the stalls and galleries, the stage tower, the dressing rooms, and the technical systems, restoring a cultural landmark of rebirth to the Galatina community. Today, the programming is curated by the Municipality of Galatina in collaboration with Puglia Culture, the regional theater circuit that brings the best national productions to Apulian towns.
The season alternates between auteur drama and brilliant comedies, from great 20th-century texts to musical shows and theatrical concerts. The stage of the Cavallino Bianco has hosted prominent names such as Giovanni Esposito, Francesco Pannofino, Caterina Murino, Massimo Dapporto, Alessandro Haber, and Antonio Stornaiolo, in a journey ranging from Goldoni to Pirandello, from Svevo to GarcÃa Lorca, without forgetting popular and original music.
With its evening performances spread throughout the winter and spring, the Theater Season is much more than a festival: it is a meeting place for Galatina and the entire Salento area, a way to rediscover the pleasure of live theater in a historic hall finally restored to its vocation. Subscriptions and tickets for individual performances are on sale at the theater box office and online via the Vivaticket circuit.
The 2025-2026 Theater Season at the Teatro Cavallino Bianco in Galatina opened on November 27, 2025, and concluded on May 16, 2026, with a program that intertwined comedy, poetry, music, and great drama. Promoted by the Municipality of Galatina in collaboration with Puglia Culture, the season featured some of the most beloved performers of the Italian theatrical and television scene.
From the overwhelming inaugural comedy Benvenuti in casa Esposito with Giovanni Esposito, to revisited classics like Goldoni's La vedova scaltra with Caterina Murino and La coscienza di Zeno with Alessandro Haber, to Pirandello Pulp with Massimo Dapporto and Fabio Troiano: the Salento audience experienced a season full of emotion and reflection. There was no shortage of theatrical concerts, such as the tribute to Domenico Modugno by the group Radicanto.
