tanGO TO Rome, Argentine tango in the heart of the Capital

Every year in November, Rome becomes one of the European capitals of Argentine tango thanks to tanGO TO Rome, the International Argentine Tango Festival that attracts dancers, masters, and enthusiasts from all over Italy and abroad. For five days, the Eternal City fills with music, embraces, and milongas that last until the first light of dawn, in an atmosphere that combines the refinement of Rioplatense tradition with the timeless charm of the Capital.

An international event in Rome

Reaching its seventh edition in 2026, tanGO TO Rome has established itself as one of the most anticipated appointments on the national tango calendar. The festival takes place in the Municipality of Rome, within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region, and offers an intense program designed for both experienced dancers and those approaching tango for the first time. The international dimension is guaranteed by the presence of world-famous Argentine masters and DJs, known as musicalizadores, coming from various countries.

The program: milongas, workshops, and performances

The heart of the festival consists of the grand evening and late-night milongas, hosted in elegant ballrooms, accompanied by performances from the masters and a carefully curated musical selection. During the day, workshops of various levels are held, ranging from basics to advanced techniques, as well as in-depth seminars.

For the 2026 edition, top-tier masters are expected, including:

• Facundo Piñero and Vanesa Villalba
• Neri Piliu and Yanina Quiñones
• Diego Ortega and Aldana Silveyra
• Lucas Gauto and Naima Gerasopoulou

DJs such as Roberto Tucci, Olga Katsara, Mauro Berardi, Super Sabino, and Lavinia Livi will take turns at the console, accompanying the milongas from opening until late at night.

Milongas and the competition

The program includes a milonga every evening, from the Opening Milonga to the final Closing Milonga, including the scenic Roman Gala Milonga. Alongside social dancing, there is also an official competition, with preliminary rounds in the middle days and the final on the last day: a spectacular moment that rewards the best couples.

Festival venues

tanGO TO Rome is spread across various city locations, including dance-dedicated spaces like The Living and hotel ballrooms hosting workshops and milongas, such as the Hotel Aurelia Antica and the Hotel Capannelle. This distributed format allows participants to experience tango in different, well-maintained, and welcoming environments, just a short distance from the beauties of Rome.

Rome, tango, and Rioplatense tradition

Argentine tango, born between Buenos Aires and Montevideo at the turn of the 20th century, has long conquered Italy and finds one of its most vibrant communities in Rome. Participating in tanGO TO Rome means immersing yourself in this culture of music, elegance, and sociality, while simultaneously discovering or rediscovering the Capital in a new light, between a milonga and a walk through the historic center.
