Contemporary dance along the Tiber, in Rome's Municipio XI
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
TAD – Tevere Art Danza is a live performance project dedicated to contemporary dance, promoted in Rome by the World Dance Alliance Europe Cultural Association, the European section of the international World Dance Alliance network established in 2006 under the aegis of ITI-UNESCO. The initiative brings auteur dance to the capital's Municipio XI, along the banks of the Tiber, with the goal of bringing the general public closer to contemporary languages in urban and outdoor spaces.
TAD was born within the framework of the 'Roma Creativa 365 – Culture all year round' public call, the biennial program (2025-2026) through which Rome Capital, via Zètema Progetto Cultura, supports cultural activities spread throughout the city with over 8.5 million euros. The project was selected in Section 1/A – Live Performance, dedicated to proposals that promote sociocultural growth in neighborhoods through theater, dance, music, and performance. Its location along the Tiber, in the territory of Municipio XI (Marconi-Portuense area), aligns with the 'proximity' vocation of the call, which aims to spread culture beyond the historic center.
The heart of TAD – Tevere Art Danza is the encounter between contemporary dance, ballet, and public space. The project enhances choreographic creation and training, historical areas of the World Dance Alliance Europe, which also runs the European Dance Academy (AED) in Rome. The setting along the river transforms the banks of the Tiber into a natural stage, where performances engage in a dialogue with the city's urban and river landscape.
Municipio XI stretches along the right bank of the Tiber in the south-western sector of Rome and includes neighborhoods such as Marconi, Portuense, and Magliana. It is a territory crossed by the river that gives the project its name: the very bond between dance and the Tiber constitutes the identity of TAD, which intends to restore to residents and visitors a new relationship with the capital's river spaces, often experienced only in passing.
As this is a recently selected project under 'Roma Creativa 365', the detailed calendar and performance schedule will be communicated by the organization. To find out dates, precise locations, and how to participate, it is best to follow the channels of the World Dance Alliance Europe Cultural Association, which oversees the artistic direction of the initiative in the Lazio region.
