Swap_amo: the clothing swap that brings Pigneto to life

In Rome's Municipio V, within the Pigneto district, Swap_amo is the event that has turned clothing swaps into a small community ritual. The idea is simple and virtuous: instead of throwing away or hoarding clothes you no longer wear, you bring them to the swap party and trade them with others. One wardrobe is cleared, another is refreshed, and nothing ends up in the trash. The initiative was born from a collaboration between the swap_amo collective and the Le Moscerine cultural association, which hosts the meetings at its art academy on Via Giovanni D'Agostino.

How the 'fiorini' system works

The mechanism is the true soul of the event. For every garment or item in good condition that you hand in, you receive a 'fiorino': an internal currency that you then spend to choose the items you prefer from those brought by other participants. This ensures the exchange is always fair, and those who bring more have access to more items.

• Bring clothes, accessories (necklaces, bracelets, earrings), and small items in good condition.
• Each piece handed in earns you one 'fiorino'.
• Use your 'fiorini' to choose the items you like from those available.
• If you have nothing to swap, you can purchase a swap_amo tote bag for 10 euros and fill it with whatever fits inside.

Where and when

The meetings are held at the Accademia d'arte delle Moscerine, at Via Giovanni D'Agostino 71/73, in Pigneto. The swap party returns frequently, sometimes once a month, usually on Sundays from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM. To find out about upcoming dates, it is best to follow the project's social media channels.
