A market dedicated to reuse and sustainability

SvuotaCantine is one of the most beloved events in Falconara Marittima, a coastal town in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region. Organized by the Municipality of Falconara Marittima, the event takes place twice a year, in spring and autumn, and transforms the city center into a large, widespread market dedicated to the exchange and sale of used items.

The idea behind the event is simple and virtuous: to give a second life to objects that are no longer used, reducing waste destined for landfills and promoting a culture of reuse and environmental sustainability. More than just a sale, SvuotaCantine is a moment of social interaction and community, where the people of Falconara gather in the streets among improvised stalls and all sorts of curiosities.

Where and how it takes place

The heart of the event is Piazza Mazzini, which, along with the pedestrianized section of via Bixio, hosts the stalls assigned to participants. Adults can take part in the event, and the Municipality grants them a free public space to display their items.

The rules are clear and designed to protect the non-commercial spirit of the initiative: only used items in good condition and with a value not exceeding 200 euros can be sold or exchanged. Traders, antique dealers, hobbyists, or professional operators are not allowed, nor is the sale of new or potentially dangerous products. The success of this formula is such that available stalls are quickly assigned, often selling out days before the event.

Activities for families and children

SvuotaCantine is not just about bargains; it's also an educational opportunity for families. In Piazza Mazzini, there is the stand of the CEA (Environmental Education Center) of the Municipality of Falconara, which engages adults and children on the themes of reuse and recycling. Free workshops are organized for children to create objects from recycled materials, from paper flowers to all-purpose jars.

To complete the day, in the late afternoon, Marche Multiservizi is often present to collect unsold items that participants wish to leave behind and bulky waste brought by citizens, in full compliance with the sustainability philosophy that inspires the entire event.

A regular event for Falconara

Now in its seventeenth edition, SvuotaCantine has established itself as a recurring event in the calendar of Falconara Marittima, capable of combining the passion for bargains and vintage with attention to the environment. A Sunday of celebration, in the open air, where the city center fills with people, stories, and objects ready to start a new life.
