The University of Pavia for sustainability and the 2030 Agenda
The Sustainable Development Festival is the largest Italian initiative dedicated to sustainability, promoted annually by ASviS (Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development). The University of Pavia, part of the Network of Universities for Sustainable Development (RUS), participates in the festival with a series of initiatives that animate its campuses in the center of Pavia, the capital of its province in Lombardy.
The Pavia program is rich and varied: conferences and seminars, round tables and workshops, experimental laboratories, educational activities, and cultural initiatives such as guided tours, exhibitions, and local explorations. All proposals are aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda, ranging from health to the environment, from gender equality to justice and education.
At the heart of the initiatives are the most pressing issues of the present: circular economy, ecological transition, electronic waste management, and the conscious use of resources. The university makes its scientific expertise available to address these challenges with rigor and community engagement.
The University of Pavia's participation in the Sustainable Development Festival demonstrates the university's role as a cultural driver for the region. By opening its classrooms and historic courtyards to students and citizens, the university makes sustainability a shared theme, contributing to building widespread awareness about the future of the planet.
For 2026, the University of Pavia is participating in the tenth edition of the Sustainable Development Festival, scheduled from May 6 to 22. The university (part of RUS) offers a calendar of conferences, seminars, workshops, and laboratories aligned with the 17 Goals of Agenda 2030. Among the announced initiatives are 'WEEE: Knowing Them to Manage Them' (May 6 and 13, Cortile delle Statue), dedicated to waste electrical and electronic equipment, and 'Knowledge That Illuminates' (May 8, 10:30 AM, Aula Magna). Themes range from circular economy to ecological transition.
The complete calendar of the university's initiatives will be published on the University of Pavia's channels.
Pavia is connected to Milan by train (about 30 minutes) and by car via the A7 highway. The initiatives take place at the University of Pavia's campuses in the historic center.
The initiatives are spread over about two weeks in May. Most events are free admission.
