A Night of Music to Kick Off Summer

The Summer Start Festival is now a well-established tradition in Nonantola, a town in the province of Modena, in Emilia-Romagna. Founded in 2008, the event has established itself over time as one of the most anticipated dancing evenings on the Modena summer calendar: every year, at the end of May, thousands of people gather outdoors to dance until dawn and officially welcome the summer.

Where and When

The event takes place at La Pieve, along Via Pieve in Nonantola, a large area that transforms into a huge open-air dance floor for one night. The festival comes alive in the evening hours and continues until the first light of dawn, with an organization that includes multiple stages, various bar areas, a cicchetti corner, and catering service to accompany the long night.

Music and Guests

The heart of the Summer Start Festival is music. DJ sets and artists alternate on stage, with a lineup that over the years has featured local names and nationally and internationally renowned guests from the electronic and dance scene. The musical offering ranges from house and electronic rhythms to the most danceable hits, with moments also dedicated to live music, creating a varied evening capable of engaging a large and diverse audience.
