Summer Start Festival

A day to welcome summer

In the small Municipality of Castello dell'Acqua, perched on the Rhaetian side of the mid-Valtellina in the province of Sondrio, the Summer Start Festival is one of those events that mark the village calendar. It takes place at the Parish Centre at Via Degli Alpini 4 and is designed as a day open to everyone, where families, young people, and neighbours gather to celebrate the arrival of the good season.

Games, inflatables, and lots of fun

The programme kicks off in the early afternoon, starting at 2:00 PM, and continues until the evening. The absolute star is the human foosball tournament, a giant and wild version of the classic table game where people embody the players: a team challenge that brings laughter and involves both adults and children. For the kids, there are inflatables, while music accompanies the whole day, creating the typical atmosphere of Valtellina village festivals.

Food, bar, and dancing evening

The convivial aspect is not missing: the food stand and bar are open throughout the festival, then giving way to dinner and the evening DJ set in a covered venue, so the fun continues even after sunset. This is the time when the community of Castello dell'Acqua gathers around the tables, between one dish and another, before letting loose and dancing.

A community event

The Summer Start Festival is a simple and authentic event, far from large crowds but rich in warmth. It truly represents the spirit of the villages in the province of Sondrio, where festive occasions are first and foremost opportunities for gathering.
