Spyral Fest in Melendugno

Spyral Fest is one of the most exciting additions to the Salento summer calendar: a festival entirely dedicated to independent electronic music held in the heart of the village of Roca Nuova, a small hamlet in the municipality of Melendugno, in the province of Lecce, Puglia. Established in 2024, the event is conceived and organized by the Softlips APS association in partnership with the local administration, with the goal of providing a platform for young local talent and fostering a dialogue between contemporary club culture and Puglia's historical heritage.

A night of music and heritage

For one night, the Renaissance village of Roca Nuova is bathed in purple light and transformed: the courtyard becomes an open-air dance floor, while the Village Tower serves as a natural backdrop for the artists performing at the console. The event is designed as a true musical incubation platform, capable of enhancing a site steeped in history through contemporary artistic practices, from music curation to visual sound and light installations.

Genres and atmosphere

The programming spans various languages of experimental electronics: techno, house, industrial, jungle, UK garage, drum and bass, and breakbeat. Surrounding the music are projections and video installations that wrap around the village walls, creating an immersive experience that blends club culture, visual art, and landscape. The free-entry format, curated down to the smallest detail, has made Spyral Fest a highly anticipated event for young audiences in Salento and beyond.

Roca Nuova and the Melendugno area

The choice of location is no coincidence: Roca Nuova is located just a short distance from the Adriatic coast of Melendugno, nestled among Puglia's most beloved seaside spots like Torre dell'Orso and San Foca. The festival is part of the municipality's rich summer program, helping to extend the tourist season and showcase a different side of Salento—one defined by musical research, creativity, and youthful energy. For spectators, it is also a unique opportunity to discover a fascinating corner of local historical heritage in an entirely new light.
