Spring in one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy
Florilegio di Primavera is the festival that celebrates the awakening of nature in Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena, a medieval village in the hinterland of Albenga, in the province of Savona, part of the circuit of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. Dominated by the imposing Del Carretto fortress, the village offers a unique setting for an event that combines greenery, culture, and tradition.
A widespread market exhibition
Through the alleys and small squares of the village winds a market exhibition of flowers, plants, gastronomic products, and quality crafts. Among the specialties to taste are apple and vegetable fritters, fried panissa, and craft beers. The atmosphere is that of the intimate and authentic small centers of the Ligurian hinterland.
Culture, history, and Occitan music
Florilegio is not just a market: the program alternates literary presentations, historical conferences (from ancient mulberry plants to the links between the House of Savoy and the Grimaldis), parades of costumed historical groups, and Occitan music, recalling the alpine and Provençal roots of these valleys. The event is curated by the Municipal Culture Department and attracts administrators and visitors from all over the Savona region.
Florilegium — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Florilegio di Primavera took place on the weekend of May 30 and 31, animating the village alleys with stalls of flowers, plants, and crafts, and a rich cultural program curated by the Culture Department. Among the events were book presentations, local history conferences, and Occitan music.

How to get there
Castelvecchio di Rocca Barbena is located in the hinterland of Albenga, along the road leading up to the Colle di Caprauna. By car, it can be reached from the Albenga exit of the A10 motorway. It is not served by a train station: the nearest stop is Albenga.

Free admission. The village is made of stone, with narrow alleys and staircases: comfortable shoes are recommended. Parking is available at the entrance to the village.
