Spring Break, spring sounds in Borgonovo

Every year, in May, the Parco di Via Rodolfo Betta in Borgonovo Val Tidone transforms into an open-air stage for Spring Break, the musical-photographic aperitif at sunset conceived and organized by the Pro Loco of Borgonovo Val Tidone. Founded in 2018, the event has become one of the most anticipated spring appointments in Val Tidone, that hilly area of the province of Piacenza, in Emilia-Romagna, famous for its vineyards and castles.

Music, vinyl, and photography

The formula of Spring Break is simple and curated: it begins in the late afternoon, as the sun begins to set over the park, with a DJ set strictly on vinyl only and a photographic exhibition that accompanies the audience throughout the evening. Bands chosen from the emerging Italian scene, with sounds ranging from psych pop to alternative rock, from 60s-70s folk to more refined indie, take turns on stage.

The focus on photography is one of the distinctive features of the event: for several editions, the exhibition "Rock'n'Roll Issue", curated by a collective of photographers from Val Tidone, tells the story of the link between music, energy, and youth culture through images.

The Pro Loco's aperitif

Spring Break is above all a moment of conviviality. The aperitif is curated by the Pro Loco together with Giustè Food Truck, which offers street food and drinks to be enjoyed in the green, listening to music with a glass in hand. Admission is always free, in line with the popular and inclusive nature of the initiative.

An event rooted in the territory

Organized with the patronage of the Municipality of Borgonovo Val Tidone, Spring Break is an expression of the work of the local Pro Loco, which has been animating the cultural life of the town for decades. For those visiting Val Tidone, it is the perfect opportunity to discover the independent music scene of the area in a relaxed, outdoor setting, just a short walk from the historic center of Borgonovo and its famous Rocca.
