Spring is celebrated on the slopes
When the April sun warms the snow, the Monterosa Ski area celebrates the arrival of the good season with the Spring Barbecue, one of the most fun and anticipated events of late winter in Gressoney-La-Trinité. The event, now set for the first Saturday of April, combines outdoor dining, music, and high-altitude snow challenges.
Barbecue at Alpe Sant'Anna
The day begins at Alpe Sant'Anna, at an altitude of 2200 meters, with a barbecue accompanied by beer and music, with skis on and a view of the Monte Rosa peaks. In the afternoon, the party moves to the Staffal area, on the terrace of the Container – Mountain Chiringuito, and continues into the evening.
The snow pool challenge
The most spectacular moment is the snow pool challenge: a pool dug into the snow and filled with icy water, which the most daring participants try to cross on skis, snowboards, or any slippery device. Only the bravest manage to cross without getting wet, to the applause and laughter of the crowd. A classic end-of-season prank event in the Monte Rosa area, in the province of Aosta.
Spring Barbecue Gressoney — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Spring Barbecue takes place on Saturday, April 4, the first Saturday of the month as tradition dictates, between Alpe Sant'Anna and the Staffal area of Gressoney-La-Trinité.
The day begins at Alpe Sant'Anna (2200 m) from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with barbecue, open DAB beer bar, and music with skis on. From 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the party continues in the Staffal area, on the terrace of the Container – Mountain Chiringuito. Highlight: the snow pool challenge, to be crossed with skis, snowboards, or any slippery device without getting wet.

How to get there
Alpe Sant'Anna and the Staffal area can be reached by the Monterosa Ski lifts, starting from Staffal (Gressoney-La-Trinité). A ski pass is required for the slopes.
