A festival on the hill
The Sport Festival takes place at the Colle di San Maffeo, the hill that at 505 meters above sea level overlooks the Municipality of Rodero, in the province of Como, near the Swiss border. At the top of the hill stands the church of Maria Regina Angelorum, built in 1714, which replaced an ancient chapel dedicated to San Matteo (San Maffeo in the dialectal form).
Organized by Gruppo San Maffeo
The event is organized by the Gruppo San Maffeo, the association that enlivens the hill with its events. The Sport Festival opens the group's summer season and precedes the Sagra di San Maffeo, the main event in early August, and the Festa della Solidarietà in September. It is a day designed for spending time together outdoors, with sports activities, food service, and conviviality.
Between Rodero and the border
Colle di San Maffeo is a cherished destination for the inhabitants of Rodero and the border area: from its tower, the view stretches over the Valle del Lanza. The festival enhances this identity-rich place, combining the sporting dimension with the community and gastronomic aspects typical of village festivals in the Como area.
Sport Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 Sport Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at Colle di San Maffeo, above Rodero (CO), organized by Gruppo San Maffeo. It is the first of the group's three major annual events on the hill, along with the Sagra di San Maffeo in August and the Festa della Solidarietà in September.
The day combines sports activities, food service, and community moments outdoors. The detailed schedule will be published on the Gruppo San Maffeo channels closer to the event.

How to get there
Rodero is located about 13 km from Como, on the border with Switzerland. Colle di San Maffeo can be reached on foot from the town with a short climb. By car, take the exit towards western Como from the Olgiate Comasco area.
