Sogni di Luce

A village lit by dreams

Sogni di Luce is the most evocative event of the Capranica summer: a night when the historic center of Capranica, a tuff-stone village in the Viterbo Tuscia region overlooking the Via Francigena, turns into an enchanted trail. Thousands of candles illuminate the medieval alleys, while dozens of diffusers release unique fragrances at every corner: the result is a sensory and emotional journey through light, memory, and wonder.

Recycled art and installations

The heart of the event lies in the creativity of the volunteers, who every year bring to life dozens of art installations made from recycled materials. In the 2024 edition, the trail featured about thirty works inspired by the story of Pinocchio; subsequent editions have continued to renew the scenery and displays, with urban art, video mapping, and artisanal decorations that light up vistas, small squares, and ancient buildings like Palazzo Anguillara. These meticulously crafted works often remain on display for much of the summer.

A trail for everyone

The evening unfolds on foot throughout the historic center, along a route designed to surprise both adults and children. Along the way, the magical atmosphere blends with live music, street food corners, and local products and wine, in a tapestry of history, taste, and emotion that involves the entire community.

In the spirit of community

Conceived and organized by the Amalisogni Cultural Association, the event stems from the dedication of those who live in and love Capranica: over a hundred volunteers work for weeks on the displays, lighting, and hospitality. "Sogni di Luce" is part of the Viva Capranica summer program and represents one of the town's defining moments, capable of attracting visitors from across the province of Viterbo and the rest of Lazio.

Capranica and the Tuscia region

Of Etruscan and later Roman origin, Capranica preserves a historic center nestled between two ancient gates, medieval churches, and tuff alleys that provide a natural backdrop for the light trail. Visiting "Sogni di Luce" is also an opportunity to discover an authentic village of the Tuscia region, amidst nature, art, and popular traditions.
