The regional festival of amateur theatre from the Marche region, with the final stage at the Teatro dell'Aquila in Fermo
Sipari delle Marche is the first Amateur Theatre Festival promoted and organized by GAT Marche (Gruppo Attivitร Teatrali delle Marche), the association that brings together amateur theatre companies active throughout the region. The first edition took place from October 25, 2025, to May 3, 2026, as a true cultural journey articulated in fourteen stages, each hosted by a historic theatre in the Marche. The final stage is held in Fermo, the capital of the province of the same name in the Marche region, at the prestigious Teatro dell'Aquila.
The review touched as many cities in the region, creating a theatrical map that crosses the hinterland and the coast: Macerata, Sant'Angelo in Pontano, Matelica, San Severino Marche, Campofilone, Altidona, Montecosaro, Corridonia, Servigliano, Porto San Giorgio, Loreto, Appignano, Monte San Vito, and finally Fermo. Each evening featured a different amateur company, with performances in the Marche dialect and in Italian, in the spirit that GAT summarizes as follows: theatre is born from amateurs, from those who do it out of passion.
The festival opened on October 25, 2025, in Macerata, at the Dante Cecchi Auditorium of the Mozzi Borgetti Library, with a conference dedicated to amateur theatre, exploring dialect, Italian, passion, and community. An opportunity to reaffirm that dialect is a gateway to the culture and identity of the territories, and that popular theatre preserves collective memory and traditions. The first performance took place on October 26 at the Teatro Lauro Rossi in Macerata.
The grand finale took place at the Teatro dell'Aquila in Fermo: the Filodrammatica Dialettale Firmum APS performed the comedy Per chi suona il Campanile, inspired by the theatre of Achille Campanile. This was followed by the awards ceremony with the presentation of recognitions to the Mayors and delegates of the Municipalities that hosted and supported the festival. Stefano Cardinali, president of GAT Marche, recalled how amateur theatre, created by those who love it, generates knowledge, builds trust, and fosters community growth.
An event that enhances the heritage of the region's historic theatres and the rich fabric of amateur companies, restoring centrality to community theatre in the Marche.
