Edition 2025 — Simeddha Festival

The third edition of the Simeddha Festival took place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Piazza Castello, in Depressa. From 9:00 PM, the village came alive with the scent of freshly baked bread and the live music of the Uccio Aloisi Gruppu, a historic ensemble of Salento pizzica and folk singing. A free evening of taste, culture, and tradition, with simeddha served plain or stuffed according to handed-down customs.

The 2025 edition of the Simeddha Festival, the third of the event organized by Pro Loco Depressa, was held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, in Piazza Castello, in the historic center of Depressa, a village of Tricase in the province of Lecce.

Starting at 9:00 PM, the square turned into an open-air laboratory of Salento flavors: the simeddha, a rustic loaf seasoned with black olives and baked in wood-fired ovens, was baked on the spot and served hot, plain or stuffed with garden vegetables. Accompanying the tasting were wine and folk music.

The highlight of the evening was the concert by the Uccio Aloisi Gruppu, one of the most authentic voices of Salento's pizzica and folk singing, which kept the square dancing until late at night. Admission was free.
