The patron saint's festival

The Settimana di San Donato is the festa patronale (patron saint's festival) of Osio Sotto, a municipality in the Bassa Bergamasca area, in the province of Bergamo. The calendar revolves around August 7th, the day of San Donato, and spans about a week, blending religious, civil, and festive elements. The heart of the event is Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII, the town's central square.

Between faith and celebration

The religious part includes masses and a procession in honour of the patron saint. Alongside these solemn moments, a rich civil programme unfolds, which in recent editions has included a nighttime cycling race, dance performances by the Osio Dance Festival, a concert by the Corpo Musicale San Donato, theatre shows, and concerts by guest artists.

Stalls, funfair, and fireworks

The festival is rounded off by stalls, an evening funfair set up in Via delle Industrie, and fireworks that conclude the celebrations. It's an event of strong identity for the community, capable of uniting religious tradition, sport, music, and entertainment.

A festival for the whole community

Organised by the Municipality of Osio Sotto together with the parish and local associations, the Settimana di San Donato offers free admission and is open to all citizens. It remains one of the most cherished events of the Osio Sotto summer.
