About Sermoneta in Pink

Every year, the medieval village of Sermoneta, in the province of Latina, turns pink to celebrate women's intelligence, resourcefulness, and creativity. Launched in 2010 by the local municipality, the festival brings alleys, loggias, and historic palaces to life with art exhibitions, book presentations, theatrical guided tours, tastings, and live performances featuring nationally renowned guests. The 2026 edition, the sixteenth, paid tribute to Italian cuisine—a candidate for UNESCO heritage status—with guest of honor Rosanna Lambertucci.

A village dressed in pink

Amidst the stone alleys and crenellated walls of one of the best-preserved medieval villages in Lazio, Sermoneta in Pink is the event that dedicates an entire spring weekend to highlighting the role of women in contemporary society. Promoted by the Municipality of Sermoneta, in the province of Latina, in collaboration with the Art'è and Art Maison associations and under the patronage of the Chamber of Commerce, the festival reached its sixteenth edition in 2026, confirming itself as one of the most iconic cultural events in the Lepini Mountains.

Origins and spirit of the event

Born in 2010 as a tribute to female creativity and enterprise, the event has grown significantly over the years: from early editions focused on women's entrepreneurship and combating gender-based violence, it has evolved into thematic editions exploring the green and digital transition, art, and, in 2026, Italian cuisine, celebrated in light of its candidacy as UNESCO intangible heritage. Each year features a different theme, but the goal remains the same: to tell the story of Sermoneta through a feminine lens.

What to experience during the weekend

The program transforms the historic center into a widespread stage. Recurring events include:

  • Art and photography exhibitions hosted in the Town Hall, Palazzo Caetani, and other historic spaces in the village;
  • Book presentations and cultural meetings at the Loggia dei Mercanti, featuring authors and nationally renowned television guests;
  • Theatrical guided tours such as "Telling the Story of Sermoneta through Women," featuring historical characters in costume;
  • Tastings of local products: Sermoneta pastries, extra virgin olive oil from the Lepini hills, and traditional Pontine specialties;
  • Exhibitions of artistic crafts and vintage items along the town streets;
  • Musical and artistic performances, ranging from roving contemporary dance shows to concerts at the Belvedere.

The 2026 edition: Italian cuisine takes center stage

On April 25 and 26, 2026, the 16th edition celebrated Italian cuisine with the talk "Food in Art" by Vincenzo Scozzarella, the presentation of the book "Cooking in the Time of the Caetani," a cooking challenge between local chefs and Food Network personalities, and guest of honor Rosanna Lambertucci, a historic television host, who presented her book on wellness. The event concluded with a performance by Monica Giovinazzi in the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, dedicated to women in art.
