Sei Gradi in Rome: music that bridges distant worlds

Sei Gradi in Rome is a free music festival held in the farmhouses of the Cooperativa Coraggio, in the rural village of Borghetto San Carlo along the Via Cassia, at the northern edge of Rome's 15th Municipality. Conceived by the Entroterre Foundation, the festival brings a format already successful in other Italian cities to the capital, offering Roman audiences a series of piano concerts in an intimate setting immersed in the metropolitan countryside.

A format born from the radio

The festival brings the "6 gradi" program from Rai Radio3 to the stage, hosted by journalist Luca Damiani, who guides each evening with his narrative. The common thread is the famous theory of six degrees of separation, formulated in 1929 by Hungarian writer Frigyes Karinthy: the idea that anyone can be connected to anyone else through a chain of at most six acquaintances. Applied to music, this intuition allows Damiani to interweave distant authors, genres, and eras, creating unexpected bridges between the performers' music and the stories that introduce them.

The setting of Borghetto San Carlo

The concerts take place in the farmhouses managed by the Cooperativa Coraggio, an agricultural and social enterprise that enlivens Borghetto San Carlo just outside the Grande Raccordo Anulare. It is a different side of Rome, far from the grand theaters of the city center: a pastoral, communal landscape that becomes an integral part of the experience, where music dialogues with the soul of the territory.

A community project

Sei Gradi is more than just a concert series. Alongside the live performances, the Entroterre Foundation promotes co-creation workshops with local residents, led by Piermaria Cecchini, where emotions, memories, and local roots are woven into a collective narrative shared during the musical evenings. The festival is promoted by Roma Capitale - Department of Culture and was a winner of the Roma Creativa 365 public notice, in collaboration with the 15th Municipality and Zètema Progetto Cultura.
