The patronal feast of the Fossignano district in Aprilia
The Santa Maria della Speranza Patronal Feast is the most cherished event in the Fossignano district, located in the Municipality of Aprilia, in the province of Latina (Lazio). Every July, the parish community and the Fossignano Neighborhood Committee organize a calendar that weaves together religious celebrations and secular festivities around the church dedicated to the patron saint. After some difficult years, the festival has returned to unite the neighborhood, celebrated for the second consecutive year with a program full of faith, connection, and sharing.
The spiritual heart of the festival is an extensive religious program running from July 6th to 27th, marked by Holy Masses, the Holy Rosary recited in the church courtyard, and traditional processions that wind through the streets of the district, carrying the image of the Madonna among the homes and courtyards of Fossignano. A highlight is the visit from the Bishop of the Suburbicarian Diocese of Albano, H.E. Mons. Vincenzo Viva, welcomed by the community as a sign of closeness, hope, and ecclesial communion.
Alongside the spiritual dimension, the festival offers several evenings of secular celebrations, concentrated in mid-July. The program includes live music, entertainment, and food stalls serving local flavors, providing fun for everyone from the youngest to the oldest residents. It is the occasion when Fossignano gathers in the square, amidst festive lights and the aromas of local specialties, to strengthen the sense of belonging that brings a district community to life.
Devotion to Santa Maria della Speranza is deeply rooted in the history of the neighborhood and the profound bond between the inhabitants and their parish, which has grown over time to the construction of the new church. The festival is not just a religious rite: it is a moment where different generations meet, where the memory of tradition is passed down, and where the territory of Aprilia rediscovers the authentic soul of its districts. For those visiting the Pontine Lazio in summer, it offers a sincere image of an Italian patronal feast, far from large-scale events but rich in human warmth.
For the second consecutive year, the Fossignano district in Aprilia celebrates its patron saint, Santa Maria della Speranza. The religious program is spread from July 6th to 27th, 2026, and includes Holy Masses, the Holy Rosary recited in the church courtyard, and processions through the streets of the neighborhood.
A central moment is Saturday, July 11th, when the community has the honor of welcoming the Bishop of the Suburbicarian Diocese of Albano, H.E. Mons. Vincenzo Viva, as a sign of closeness and ecclesial communion.
From July 11th to 13th, the focus shifts to the secular side of the festival, with music, entertainment, food stalls, and fun for all ages. Free entry.
