The late-summer patronal feast in Fai della Paganella
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The San Valentino Festival is a traditional event that, every year on the last Sunday of August, brings together the community of Fai della Paganella, a small town on the plateau of the same name overlooking the Brenta Dolomites in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Saint Valentine is the village's patron saint, and the festival dedicated to him is one of the most cherished moments of the local summer, when the streets of the historic centre fill with people, music, and the aromas of Trentino cuisine.
The day begins with a parade through the village streets, followed by Solemn Holy Mass accompanied by a procession, the religious heart of the patronal feast. At noon, the community gathers for a community lunch, carefully prepared by the volunteers of the Croce Bianca Paganella, in a convivial atmosphere that unites residents and holidaymakers on the plateau.
In the afternoon, the most characteristic events take place, such as the traditional Vaso della Fortuna, a lottery that has always been part of the festival, and numerous market stalls set up along the streets of the centre, offering local products, handicrafts, and gastronomic specialties. Music, games, and entertainment enliven the day, making it a celebration for all ages.
The Sunday festival is the highlight of an entire weekend of events: in the preceding days, the village prepares with festive evenings, including the San Valentino Party and the Notte di San Valentino, featuring dancing, live music, and DJ sets that engage all generations. The event is organised by the Pro Loco of Fai della Paganella in collaboration with local groups and associations, coordinated by the Consorzio Fai Vacanze.
Fai della Paganella is a renowned summer and winter resort, nestled among woods, meadows, and vineyards at an altitude of over 950 metres. It is also famous for the Parco del Respiro, Italy's first 'breathing park'. The San Valentino Festival offers those spending their holidays in the mountains the chance to experience an authentic Trentino tradition, blending popular spirituality, good food, and the welcoming spirit of this mountain community.
The 2026 San Valentino Festival in Fai della Paganella is expected, as is tradition, for the last Sunday of August, with festivities extending to the preceding weekend. As of the time of writing, the official dates and programme for the 2026 edition have not yet been published by the Pro Loco and the Consorzio Fai Vacanze. Based on previous editions, a parade through the town centre, Solemn Holy Mass with a procession, a community lunch, the 'Vaso della Fortuna' lottery, and numerous market stalls are expected. For the updated programme, we recommend checking the official channels of Visit Fai della Paganella.
Fai della Paganella can be reached by car from the San Michele all'Adige-Mezzocorona motorway exit (A22 Brenner Motorway), driving up towards the Paganella plateau. The nearest railway station is Mezzocorona/San Michele all'Adige, which is connected to the village by local bus services.
The festival takes place in the streets of the historic centre and is free to attend. The community lunch and purchases from the market stalls are paid services. For information: Consorzio Fai Vacanze, tel. +39 0461 583561, [email protected].
