The Patron Saint and the Coertì

The Sagra di San Rocco is the most important summer festival in Leffe, a town in Val Seriana in the Province of Bergamo. It is linked to popular devotion to the patron saint and the history of the Coertì, the travelling textile merchants from Leffe who returned home from all over Italy to celebrate their saint. A tradition that unites the religious dimension, with the historical procession, to the festive and community aspect.

The Sound Rock Festival

In recent years, the festival has been enhanced by the Sound Rock Festival, a series of concerts that enlivens the festival area every evening, near San Rocco church which overlooks the town. Tribute bands and DJ sets alternate on stage: from tributes to Renato Zero, Pink Floyd, Zucchero, and Lucio Battisti to dance and afro evenings, catering to a wide audience of all ages.

Food, Fireworks, and Tradition

Every evening the festival opens with food, pizza, and grilled dishes served from 7:00 PM, accompanied by live music. The highlight is the evening of August 16th, with the traditional fireworks display at 9:30 PM that lights up the sky above Leffe. The festival usually concludes with an evening dedicated to music and dancing.

Leffe's Summer

Between liturgical celebrations, the historical procession, and concerts, the Sagra di San Rocco is the central event of Leffe's summer, attracting residents and former emigrants returning for the holidays. It is organized by the Comitato Amici di San Rocco (Committee of Friends of San Rocco) and represents one of the most cherished events in Val Seriana and the Lombardy Region.
