The patronal feast of Canneto Sabino, blending faith, tradition, and Sabina gastronomy
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of the Sabina region, nestled among the ancient olive groves surrounding the famous millennial 'Olivone', the village of Canneto Sabino — a small hamlet of about six hundred residents in the municipality of Fara in Sabina, in the province of Rieti — dedicates some of its most vibrant summer days to its patron saints, San Rocco and Sant'Isidoro. The San Rocco and Sant'Isidoro Festival is the most anticipated event of the year for the local community, organized with passion by the Pro Canneto Association, which has been active in the village since 1969.
The festivities take place in mid-August, centered around the liturgical date of San Rocco (August 16), and weave together religious and secular dimensions. The heart of the festival is Piazza Luigi Pacieri, overlooked by the church of Saints Rocco and Isidoro, where sacred celebrations and moments of conviviality alternate. The solemn procession featuring the statues of the saints, accompanied by a marching band, winds through the streets of the village and serves as the most poignant moment, reuniting families and those returning to the village for the occasion.
Every evening, the square comes alive with live concerts, dance nights, and musical performances ranging from cover bands to pop groups, culminating in a grand fireworks display that concludes the day dedicated to the patron saint. The beating heart of the social scene is the food stand, where visitors can enjoy specialties of Sabina and Lazio cuisine: fried pizza, arrosticini, grilled sausages, French fries, and local products, accompanied by a traditional charity raffle and a lottery supporting the association's activities.
The festival is also the perfect opportunity to explore Canneto Sabino and its surroundings: the village is home to the Olivone, one of the oldest olive trees in Europe, a symbol of a land where olive cultivation is both a culture and a landscape. A few kilometers away, the historic center of Fara in Sabina and the Farfa Abbey complete an itinerary that combines spirituality, nature, and flavors. Participating in the San Rocco and Sant'Isidoro Festival means experiencing the authentic hospitality of a small Lazio town, where folk traditions remain a living heritage of the community.
The San Rocco and Sant'Isidoro Festival returns in 2026 to Canneto Sabino, a hamlet of Fara in Sabina, to renew devotion to the patron saints. As every year, the community, led by the Pro Canneto Association, is preparing for five days of celebrations featuring faith, music, and conviviality in Piazza Luigi Pacieri.
At the moment, the official dates and the detailed program for the 2026 edition have not yet been published. The festival traditionally takes place in mid-August, featuring a solemn procession, a marching band, a food stand with Sabina specialties, evening concerts, and the customary fireworks display. This page will be updated with times and events as soon as they are announced by the organizers.
