The autumn celebration in the seaside village of Torre Archirafi, featuring grilled sausage, wine, and local traditions.
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The San Martino Festival is one of the most cherished autumn events in Torre Archirafi, an ancient seaside village and hamlet of the municipality of Riposto, in the province of Catania. Every year, around Saint Martin's Day (November 11th), the cozy and welcoming Piazza Scarcella becomes the heart of the festivities: market stalls, the scent of sausage roasting on the grill, and shared tables bring to life a popular tradition that blends devotion, great food, and social connection.
For centuries, Saint Martin has been linked to autumn and the first tastings of new wine: the saying «At Saint Martin's, every must becomes wine» accompanies celebrations across Italy during this period. In Torre Archirafi, the occasion translates into a simple and genuine festival, where the sausage sandwich is the absolute star, to be enjoyed in good company as evening falls over the Ionian coast.
The event is organized by the village's parish community and grows year by year: reaching its fourth edition in 2025, it is now a fixed appointment in the autumn calendar of Torre Archirafi. It is one of those village festivals that tell the story of the most authentic soul of eastern Sicily, far from the major tourist circuits, where the locals themselves bring the square to life.
Overlooking the Ionian Sea and dominated by the silhouette of Mount Etna, Torre Archirafi is a small town with a discreet charm, known for its waters, the mother church of Santa Maria del Rosario, and the tranquil atmosphere of the seafront. Participating in the San Martino Festival means experiencing the village in its most genuine dimension, during a season when the Catania coast regains its slow and intimate rhythms.
The 2026 edition of the San Martino Festival in Torre Archirafi does not yet have an official date. Based on previous editions, the festival takes place in the month of November, around the feast of Saint Martin (November 11th), in Piazza Scarcella, in the center of the seaside village and hamlet of Riposto (CT).
The detailed program, including times and gastronomic specialties, will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event. We recommend following the channels of the Torre Archirafi parish community for updates.
The festival takes place in Piazza Scarcella, in the center of Torre Archirafi, a hamlet of Riposto (CT), Sicily.
By car: from the A18 Messina–Catania motorway, take the Giarre exit, then continue towards Riposto and Torre Archirafi. By train: the Giarre–Riposto station is the closest, from which the village is easily reached. The reference airport is Catania–Fontanarossa, about an hour's drive away.
The event takes place in the evening, outdoors, and admission is free. We recommend wearing clothing suitable for autumn evenings. For updated dates and times, it is advisable to follow the channels of the Torre Archirafi parish community and the notices from the Municipality of Riposto.
