San Martino al Cimino Chestnut and Porcini Mushroom Festival

In 2025, the Chestnut and Porcini Mushroom Festival of San Martino al Cimino, a hamlet of Viterbo, celebrated its 37th edition over two weekends, October 18-19 and 25-26. On Saturdays, the festival opened at 11:00 AM with braziers, markets, an amusement park for children, and a horse carousel, followed by a blessing at 11:30 AM; the Pro Loco food stand served lunch and dinner with specialties based on polenta, mushrooms, and chestnuts, accompanied by the "Il Fritto delle mamme" stand in Piazza Mariano Burratti.

The program featured performances by the Stornellatori di Roma, falconry demonstrations, archers, stilt walkers, and fire-eaters, pottery workshops for children, a card tournament, a puppet show, and a conference dedicated to chestnut groves and climate change. The Sundays, opening at 10:00 AM, concluded with historical parades at 4:30 PM featuring flag-wavers and musicians, in the spirit of the re-enactment dedicated to Donna Olimpia. Admission was free, with food for purchase and set menus available in the village restaurants.
