The free blues night in the San Lorenzo district, Rome
The San Lorenzo Blues Festival is the summer event dedicated to the blues in the San Lorenzo district, one of the most vibrant and characterful neighborhoods in Rome. Born in 2014 from the initiative of local musicians, the festival has grown with each edition to become one of the most anticipated blues nights in the capital. Admission is always free.
After several editions hosted near the Verano Garden, the festival found its home at the Parco delle Stelle in Largo Settimio Passamonti, a space managed by the local youth of San Lorenzo. Here, under the summer sky, historic Roman bands and international guests take the stage in the informal, participatory atmosphere that is the true hallmark of the event. The festival takes place in the Municipality of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region.
The San Lorenzo Blues Festival gathers the best blues acts gravitating around the neighborhood in a single night. Traditional blues meets rock, funk, rhythm and blues, and more recent influences for a musical journey that spans the entire history of the genre. Each edition concludes with the final jam session, where all the artists take the stage together: a moment of sharing that has become a ritual.
San Lorenzo has always been one of Rome's most creative districts: born as a working-class neighborhood near the Verano cemetery, it is now a crossroads of students, artists, local venues, and self-managed spaces. Its popular and musical identity makes the neighborhood the natural stage for a festival that thrives on community, passion, and grassroots culture.
The San Lorenzo Blues Festival is now one of the most iconic events on the Roman blues scene, capable of uniting different generations around the same passion for live music.
The 12th edition of the San Lorenzo Blues Festival was held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Parco delle Stelle in Largo Settimio Passamonti, in the San Lorenzo district of Rome. Once again, the event confirmed its successful formula: free admission, historic Roman bands, and an international guest.
Opening the night was Peter Lavell, a guitarist and singer from Amsterdam known for his roots blues, followed by the Funnel Band, a supergroup of Roman musicians. Next, the stage welcomed Taxi Blues, a well-regarded act on the capital's scene, and Fleurs du Mal, a historic San Lorenzo band active since 1984 that blends blues, rock, swing, and funk. The night concluded with the customary final jam session, with all the artists together on stage.
The 12th edition took place on Saturday, June 20, 2026, on the Parco delle Stelle stage in Largo Settimio Passamonti. Below is the evening's schedule:
The festival is held at the Parco delle Stelle, in Largo Settimio Passamonti, in the San Lorenzo district (Rome, 00185), just a short walk from the monumental Verano cemetery.
San Lorenzo is well-connected to the center of Rome. Tram lines 3 and 19 stop near the district, while numerous bus lines serve Via Tiburtina and the Verano square. Termini station is about a 15-minute walk away. We recommend reaching the area by public transport, given the limited parking availability.
Admission is free. Concerts begin in the early evening and the final jam session closes the event late at night.
