Flavors, nature, and tradition in the Euganean Hills at Valle San Giorgio
The Saint George's Festival takes place in Valle San Giorgio, a hamlet in the municipality of Baone, in the province of Padova, in the heart of the Euganean Hills. It is a community festival that combines the religious dimension, with a solemn Holy Mass, with the flavors and traditions of this corner of the Euganean countryside, organized by the parish together with the association La Corte Medioevale APS.
The convivial heart of the festival is the food stand, set up in a covered and heated area, where local cooks serve traditional rural dishes: vegetable soup, fettuccine with asparagus and walnuts, 'musso' with polenta, grilled chicken breasts, herb cheese, local cured meats, and wood-fired 'schissotto' bread. Alongside the food, the festival offers nature walks towards the Calto delle Volpare, visits to the splendid Villa Mantua Benavides, embroidery and sewing exhibitions, and an inflatable play area for children.
The proceeds from the Saint George's Festival are entirely dedicated to the parish works of Valle San Giorgio. The event is an authentic opportunity to discover a village in the Euganean Hills away from mass tourism, amidst genuine flavors, hilly landscapes, and artistic heritage, during the spring period when the Euganean countryside is at its best.
The 2026 edition of the Saint George's Festival, the 9th, will take place from April 24 to 26 in Valle San Giorgio, a hamlet of Baone in the Euganean Hills. After the solemn Holy Mass on Thursday, April 23, the festival will come alive with the opening of the embroidery and sewing exhibition curated by the Baone Group, the food stand with traditional rural dishes, nature walks, and visits to Villa Mantua Benavides. The parish and the La Corte Medioevale APS association are organizing it, with proceeds going to parish works.
