The Saint Anthony Abbot Fair is the traditional festival of the hamlet of Cogozzo, in Villa Carcina, a municipality in Val Trompia in the province of Brescia. It celebrates Saint Anthony Abbot (January 17th), the patron saint of domestic animals and livestock, a figure dear to rural culture.
A Week of Events
The festival spans a week, with a program that intertwines religious, cultural, sporting, and convivial moments. These range from theatre performances in the church to the blessing of animals, from Mass with anointing of the sick to evenings for children and young people in the oratory, and communal meals that bring the community together: the hamburger dinner, the spit-roast lunch, and the spaghetti dinner.
The Role of the Oratory
The heart of the event is the Oratory of Cogozzo, on Via Fratelli Tolotti, where many of the events take place thanks to the work of volunteers, the parish, and with the support of the Municipality of Villa Carcina. The Saint Anthony Abbot Fair is one of the most cherished events of the winter in the Triumvirate area, capable of animating the village during a usually quiet period.

From January 14th to 20th, 2026, the hamlet of Cogozzo in Villa Carcina celebrates Saint Anthony Abbot with a week of events combining faith, culture, sports, and conviviality, largely hosted at the Oratory of Cogozzo.

Tuesday, January 14th
- 8:30 PM — Theatre performance in the church: "Matteo, Accountant of God".
Wednesday, January 15th
- 4:30 PM — Blessing of animals in the church square.
Thursday, January 16th
- 4:00 PM — Mass with anointing of the sick.
- 8:30 PM — Evening for teenagers and young people in the oratory.
Friday, January 17th
- Solemnity of Saint Anthony Abbot; evening hamburger dinner.
Sunday
- Spit-roast traditional lunch and spaghetti dinner.
Monday, January 20th
- 7:00 PM — Thanksgiving prayer in the church.
- 7:30 PM — Pizza dinner for volunteers in the oratory.
The week also includes performances, sporting events, and stalls.

Villa Carcina is located in Val Trompia, about 15 km north of Brescia, along the SP345. The hamlet of Cogozzo is served by the oratory on Via Fratelli Tolotti.
