Sagra du Taraddhru Festival

The Sagra du Taraddhru 2025 was held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in the village of Castiglione d'Otranto, in the Municipality of Andrano. The stars of the evening were the famous barley taralli, known in the local dialect as taraddhri—a dark, rustic variant of frise, prepared with barley flour and seasoned with oil and salt, fresh tomatoes, peppers, or chili.

The food stalls distributed the traditional product for free, while entertainment was provided by pizzica groups and traditional Salento songs, in a cheerful and engaging atmosphere. The festival confirmed itself as one of the most authentic events of the lower Salento summer, linked to the historic Santa Maria Maddalena Fair.
