Sagra du Cascavaddu (Caciocavallo Festival)

The Sagra du Cascavaddu 2025 was held on August 17, 2025, in Castel di Lucio, confirming the usual mid-August appointment dedicated to the Nebrodi cheesemaking tradition.

Along the gastronomic trail of Rione Castello, visitors were able to taste fresh, aged, and grilled provola, quagliata, tuma, and ricotta, watch milk processing demonstrations, and admire the hand-shaping of murriti, the characteristic animal figures made of stretched-curd cheese. There was no shortage of stalls from local producers of oil, hazelnuts, lemons, and cured meats, nor the performances of folk groups that enlivened the day with traditional Sicilian songs and dances.
