Sandrà Celebrates
The Sagra di San Luigi (St. Louis Festival) and the Palio delle Contrade (Districts' Challenge) liven up the hamlet of Sandrà at the end of August. Located in the municipality of Castelnuovo del Garda, in the province of Verona, it's situated in the hinterland of Lake Garda. These are two distinct but intertwined events that, taking place on the same days and in the same locations, create the great end-of-summer village festival.
The Festival by Amici per Sandrà
The Sagra di San Luigi is organised by the association Amici per Sandrà (Via Pastrengo 78) and offers music, games, and very well-stocked food and wine stalls during the festival evenings. Stalls open in the evenings, with free admission.
The Districts' Challenge
In parallel, the Parish of Sant'Andrea Apostolo organises the Palio delle Contrade, now in its 17th edition. The procession of the districts and the races between the village districts in Piazza Sant'Andrea are the most anticipated moments, fostering community spirit and healthy competition. It's a festival that tells the story of Sandrà's identity and the vibrancy of this small Garda village.
Sagra di San Luigi a Sandrà — edition 2026
The 2026 edition brings together the Sagra di San Luigi (23-26 August) and the XVII Palio delle Contrade (22-26 August) in the hamlet of Sandrà. The sagra, organised by Amici per Sandrà, offers music, games, and food and wine stalls; the Palio, organised by the Parish of Sant'Andrea Apostolo, brings the procession and races between the village districts to the square.

How to get there
Sandrà is a hamlet of Castelnuovo del Garda, in the hinterland of the Veronese side of Lake Garda. By car: A4 motorway exit Peschiera del Garda or Sommacampagna, then follow signs for Sandrà.
Opening Hours and Admission
The food and wine stalls open in the evenings (from 7:30 PM). Free admission.
