The patronal festival of Alpo

The Sagra di Alpo is the patronal festival of the hamlet of Alpo, in the municipality of Villafranca di Verona, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, patron of the community. It is traditionally held on the third weekend of June, around the elementary school in Via Salluzzo, and is one of the most deeply rooted events in the calendar of the hamlets of Villafranca.

Village festival between faith and celebration

Alongside the religious moment linked to the figure of the patron saint, the festival offers the typical features of a Veronese village festival: food stalls with traditional dishes, a funfair and rides for the little ones, a charity raffle, and evenings of music and conviviality. The event involves local associations and is managed by the Sagra Committee, with the patronage of the Municipality of Villafranca di Verona.

A decades-long tradition

The Sagra di Alpo has its roots in the history of the hamlet and is renewed year after year as a moment of community gathering. Between devotion, gastronomy, and entertainment, it represents a piece of the identity of this corner of the Veronese plain, on the border with the city of Verona.
